Skillmea

Skillmea is a long-term project we have been working on for over 10 years. Beyond programming, our key role is managing a team of developers who continuously improve the application and ship new features.

Skillmea is the biggest online learning platform in Slovakia and Czech Republic, offering more than 600 courses to online learners. The platform is built with Ruby on Rails and hosted on Heroku.

A significant part of the system is the mobile API consumed by a mobile application developed by an external team. The app is fully translated into three languages — Slovak, Czech, and English — each running on its own domain. Managing custom translations across all three is one of the biggest ongoing challenges.

Skillmea provides dedicated areas for companies, teachers, and students. The core experience is built for students, while B2B clients can use the platform to educate their employees across various topics and receive detailed analytics about the learning process.
